# Save link tag

> Create, rename, recolour, archive or restore one workspace-wide link tag.

`save_link_tag`

Create, rename, recolour, archive or restore one workspace-wide link tag. Creating an existing name returns that tag.

<Note>This command name is absent from deployment evidence dated 2026-09-20. Hosted availability for this current definition is unverified; inspect your connected catalog before invoking it. Verify the command and its input schema in the selected environment.</Note>

| Access | Behavior |
| - | - |
| `watches:write` | Writes or admits work |

This operation changes saved state. Review its inputs and retry behavior before calling.

## Example request

Connect through [MCP](/guides/connect-mcp), [CLI](/guides/connect-cli), or [HTTP](/guides/connect-http). Replace example identifiers with records from your workspace.

<CodeGroup>
  ```json MCP theme={null}
  {
    "jsonrpc": "2.0",
    "id": 1,
    "method": "tools/call",
    "params": {
      "name": "save_link_tag",
      "arguments": {
        "name": "Outreach Q4"
      }
    }
  }
  ```

  ```bash CLI theme={null}
  agentlinkops call save_link_tag --args '{"name":"Outreach Q4"}'
  ```

  ```bash HTTP theme={null}
  curl --fail-with-body https://app.agentlinkops.com/v1/commands/save_link_tag \
    -H "Authorization: Bearer $AGENTLINKOPS_TOKEN" \
    -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
    --data '{"name":"Outreach Q4"}'
  ```
</CodeGroup>

## Returned result

Illustrative data validated against the documented response schema. IDs and dates are examples, not a live account capture. MCP returns this data in `structuredContent` and in a text content block; generic HTTP and CLI return the JSON result directly.

```json theme={null}
{
  "id": "tag_example",
  "name": "Outreach Q4",
  "color": "#075985",
  "archived": false,
  "revision": 1,
  "created": true
}
```

## Input fields

Omit optional fields when you do not want to supply them. Null is accepted only where listed. Unknown input properties are rejected.

| Field | Type | Presence | Meaning and constraints |
| - | - | - | - |
| `tagId` | string | Optional | tag ID from create/list. minLength: 1; maxLength: 200 |
| `name` | string | Optional | Human-readable resource name to create or update. minLength: 1; maxLength: 64 |
| `color` | string | Optional | color; see schema. values: "#075985", "#155e75", "#6b21a8", "#3730a3", "#9d174d", "#334155" |
| `archived` | boolean | Optional | archived; see schema. |

### Validation and omitted values

Tags are workspace-wide. Creating an existing name (any case) returns that tag; a new tag takes the next of the six colours.

## Output fields

Fields inside optional or nullable parents apply only when that parent exists. [Common schema conventions](/reference/schemas) explain evidence states, empty lists and extensions.

| Field | Type | Presence | Meaning and constraints |
| - | - | - | - |
| `id` | string | Required | Resource identifier returned by the operation. |
| `name` | string | Required | |
| `color` | string | Required | |
| `archived` | boolean | Required | |
| `revision` | integer | Required | Optimistic concurrency revision; supply it as expectedRevision on the next write. minimum: -9007199254740991; maximum: 9007199254740991 |
| `created` | boolean | Optional | True when this request created the record; false when an existing record was reused. |
| `used_on` | integer | Optional | minimum: -9007199254740991; maximum: 9007199254740991 |

## Errors and retries

This write is annotated idempotent without a caller-supplied idempotency key. Reconcile saved state after an uncertain response, then use the same inputs for the same intended operation. Do not add an unsupported key.

See [error recovery](/reference/errors) for status, scope, cooldown, cursor and retry handling. Unknown observations are result data and do not establish loss.

## HTTP resource routes

These existing resource routes share the operation’s domain behavior. Their parameter placement, status and response envelope can differ from generic invocation. See [HTTP route details](/reference/http/routes).

| Method and route | Success | Details |
| - | - | - |
| `POST /v1/tags` | 201 | Create or update a workspace tag from the shared command input; creating an existing name returns that saved tag. |
| `PATCH /v1/tags/{tagId}` | 200 | The URL selects tagId, overriding a body tagId. Remaining fields go in JSON. |
